Applegate^® WOOD-LOK mulches are natural wood fiber mulches for use in hydraulic planting. They are premium quality wood mulches manufactured under constant production control checks to ensure the highest quality mulch.

WOOD-LOK mulches start as clean, whole wood chips, which are separated in a defibration process that includes steam, pressure, and mechanical defibriation to reduce the chips to fibril and fiber bundles. The combination of selected wood chips and heat produces the finest wood fiber mulch for hydro-seeding and planting; as the extreme heat and use of clean wood chips assures a sterile and toxin free material for proper germination and growth of seed, stolons and sprigs.

WOOD-LOK is fast to load in hydro-seeding equipment from easy to handle plastic bags. The fibers are sized for maximum loading in a tank and they make an homogeneous slurry of water, seed and fertilizer. WOOD-LOK remains in suspension during agitation and pumping, and the slurry does not dewater when doing hose work. When applied over soil, the fibers tend to twist and lock with each other as they dry. This forms a protective mulch mat to aid in erosion control, hold seeds in place and provide a microclimate to aid seed germination. After the seedlings have grown to sufficient size they will protect the soil surface to greatly reduce erosion and soil loss.
